Just how important is video marketing?
You’ve probably seen the claims that YouTube is the number two search engine after Google. Can you believe it?
Here are some recent figures from comScore:
Google sites recorded 76 billion searches. comScore called that a 67.5% market share. Second place Yahoo! recorded 8.9 billioin searches for a 7.8% share.
But there’s more.
In April of 2009, comScore reported 16.8 billion videos viewed on YouTube. If each of those video views came from a YouTube search, YouTube would rank number 2 as a search engine.
Things aren’t that clear. A video view is not the same as a search. And undoubtedly, many of those video views took place on non-YouTube sites and resulted from non-YouTube searches.
There were more videos viewed than searches on Yahoo! in a given month. That’s pretty powerful.
Video is unarguably powerful. If you’re not using video, you’re missing out on a great marketing tool. And your competitors who are using it, are getting clients you should have.
